Hygge Homes
Self Reflection

We made a road trip to Ada, Michigan, on October 16th to see a fascinating custom home. As part of the local Parade of Homes, Nate and Becky of Hygge Custom Homes were surprised to get a visit from us to view their home. Once the surprise factor was over, we were treated to a personal tour, learning more about the "smart" aspects, enjoying the views each window afforded, and building a relationship with the builders.
This home had all kinds of fun and memorable moments: the smart-home technology, cleverly designed dog kennels, minimalist front door, well-proportioned rooms, invisible speakers hidden inside the ceiling, extensive use of quartz and cabinetry, and of course to the creative and impressive use of our fixtures, this new construction made you feel at home from the moment you walked in.
The weather could not have been better from a photographer's point. A hazy day is always easier to photograph than a sunny day, allowing the opportunity to grab some really nice pics. This slide show, set to the Coldplay song, "Amazing Day," really sums up the feeling we all had while visiting, but more importantly, what came afterward. Part of my reflection started as we found a lovely bakery to eat and reflect on all the senses we had observed and consumed. From naming our favorite moments, our favorite spaces, awesome hospitality, beautiful nature, to even seeing where Bill lived, this trip rewarded each person in a special and unique way.
Fast forward to my lunch investment with Andrew, and the title of this Inspo took a turn that I didn't see coming. I didn't expect how affected I would be by the aspect of the significance of personal hygiene and how it reflects in my daily life, especially my work life. If you look up the definition of 'personal hygiene,' it takes on the role of self-cleaning, self-awareness of a mess, and self-diagnosis of how each moment of your life should be used for the cleansing and betterment of oneself.
Every day, we come in contact with millions of outside germs and viruses. They can linger on your body, and in some cases, make you sick.
This can be said about your life environments as certain routines and practices can fabricate complacency, carelessness, slackness, etc. It's about being aware of these germs and implementing best practices of personal hygiene. As a result, you make your personal and work life more efficient, more outstanding, more fruitful, more engaging, more impactful on the lives of those who mean the most to you, but also to strangers who didn't expect to be impacted by your presence.
Practice consistent personal hygiene - not just by washing your hands, brushing your teeth, caring for yourself, but by searching inside, self-reflecting on your actions, asking yourself, "Did I do the best I could today?" If you hold yourself accountable, I believe greater times are ahead.
