Cecelia’s Guide to Travel Sketching
1. Go by yourself.
Sometimes it’s nice to take a day to feel out of place on your own. Then, you become free from the expectations of timing and conflicting desires.
2. Delete your itinerary.
Most of the best places won’t be listed in your google search. Act like you don’t have anywhere to get to. Let yourself be enamored by the things you see, not just the things you “should see.”

Energy Orbs
½ cup almond butter
¼ cup honey
¾ cup chopped dark chocolate chips
1 cup chopped cranberries
1 cup chopped sliced almonds
sprinkle of salt
Purchase the ingredients from Trader Joe’s. (Potentially pick up a beautiful $5 bouquet of flowers as well).
Combine and melt the honey, almond butter, and salt together in a microwave-safe bowl for about one minute. Mixture should be smoooooth.
Chop cranberries, dark chocolate chips, and sliced almonds into little crunchy bits. Toss crunchy bits in a separate bowl.
Mix two bowls of ingredients together with a spatula.
Form mixture into small soft balls with your hands, like you’re rolling balls of cookie dough.
Refrigerate for 1.5 hours until the energy orbs have cooled.

File Formatting
Create shortcuts to find your files fast and keep your assets tidy. For example, you create a project standard and organized system by duplicating a template folder. Here is the template folder I've created for this class:
📁Class No. _ [FOLDER TEMPLATE]
📁 Assignment No. _
📁 01
📁 02 …etc
📁 Context
📁 Audio
📁 Images
Now, I can duplicate the [FOLDER TEMPLATE] for each class, and I have empty folders all named and ordered correctly. The time savings may seem incremental, but it really adds up after years of looking for files you never sorted. Another good folder to add is a WIP (Work In Progress). A WIP folder is great for hanging onto experiments you can archive and revisit.
Playlist
Looks like the class has some common ♫ ground. I’ve included some tracks that I think might connect you all and lead to new spaces. Enjoy!
“A leaf is beautiful not because it is
stylish but because it is natural, created in its exact form by
its exact function. A designer tries to make an object as
naturally as a tree puts forth a leaf.”
