Time Takes Time

Take the stairs. Be more patient. Too often, we want to skip ahead to our idea of success. However, the journey is the reward, so just soak up the moment and keep moving forward. Reflect on where you've been and use your taste and skill as a guide.

Rather than ranting more about time, just reread the paragraph above. Spend some time reviewing where we've been:

Context

Here are links to the media we covered in class. Please call me if there is anything you cannot find ッ

“Time keeps on slippin’ (slippin’) (slippin’) into the future.”

Timelines

We are often dissatisfied with our slow career timeline and easily inspired by tales of designers' long and difficult journies. So what's up with that? We view time differently based on our perspectives.

Not sure what to do after your graduate?

Tell your story of where you’ve been and where you want to go. Sometimes showing your mistakes and failures helps create a more authentic narrative.

Here are some designers’ timelines to take inspiration from:

Misc. Goods Co.

OH no Type Co.

How I Built This

Andy J. Pizza

Oscar Mayer

Andrew Neyer

Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood

Mister Robinson’s Neighborhood

Do you have a favorite timeline or map you’ve been inspired by?

“If you can design one thing, you can design everything.”

– Massimo Vignelli
